The Centre for Australian Indigenous Research and Studies is located within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and comprises two key Indigenous units, Wilto Yerlo and the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM).
The Director of the Centre for Australian Indigenous Research and Studies is Professor Roger Thomas.
Wilto Yerlo
Wilto Yerlo is responsible for administering the Special Entry Access Scheme for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to all programs offered at the University of Adelaide as well as the delivery of foundation programs.
Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM)
CASM offers a unique and exciting nationally focused program of tertiary-level music studies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians.
Graduates and past students have achieved success in performing, composing, and recording careers; travelled the world; and won international awards for their music.
Wilto Yerlo is the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Academic and Student Support Program. In the Language of the Kaurna People, Wilto Yerlo means 'Sea Eagle'. The sea eagle is the totem of the late Gladys Elphick who was one of the founders of Wilto Yerlo programs at the University of Adelaide.
