Teaching Awards and Grants

The University recognises excellence in both teaching and support for the student experience through a number of internal teaching awards and grants and by providing support to staff in applying for external teaching grants and awards.

Grants

The University provides a number of Learning and Teaching Implementation Grants in strategic priority areas that support the University's Education Plan. The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Quality) provides information annually on the application process and the thematic areas that will be supported in that particular year.  

In 2008 grants were allocated to the following projects that addressed the theme areas of Curriculum and Assessment, and Feedback to Students.

External Teaching Awards, Grants and Fellowships

The Australian Learning and Teaching Council (formally Carrick Institute) provides grants, fellowships and awards for university teaching with the aim of promoting and advancing learning and teaching in Australian higher education. The University has been very successful in ALTC programs.

Awards

The Committee for Learning and Teaching Awards (CLTA) nominates staff for ALTC teaching awards. Staff interested in participating in the award program are welcome to submit an expression of interest or may be invited to submit an expression of interest to the CLTA at designated times during the year. Peer review and assistance in preparing and submitting applications is available through the Teaching Awards and Grants Support Office (email Barbara Brougham or call 830 34721).
